Support mesh for pleated air filters
In a pleated panel or engine air filter, the support layer is laminated to the downstream side of the media and pleated with it. It keeps the pleats evenly spaced as airflow and dust load rise, so the filter does not pinch shut or bow.
Recommended support layers
Epoxy coated screen
14 x 14 to 30 x 30 mesh, black standard. Coated intersections keep slit edges clean on high-speed pleaters.
Thin expanded metal
0.20-0.50 mm galvanized steel or aluminium with small diamonds such as 2 x 3 or 3 x 6 mm. No loose wires, uniform airflow.
Annealed welded mesh
Soft-annealed galvanized wire that pleats easily and keeps stable pleats in HVAC panel filters.
PP support mesh
Metal-free option for incinerable filters and humid or acidic air streams.
